Supreme Court cancels Anant Singh's bail in Dularchand Yadav murder case, orders surrender by 1 December
The Supreme Court on 30 October 2026 set aside the Patna High Court's 19 March 2026 order granting bail to Mokama MLA Anant Singh in the Dularchand Yadav murder case, holding that the High Court had not adequately weighed the gravity of the offence and Singh's criminal antecedents. A bench of Justices M M Sundresh and Prasanna B Varale directed Singh to surrender by 1 December 2026 and gave Bihar Police four months to complete the investigation. Yadav was killed on 30 October 2025 during Bihar election campaigning in Mokama, and Singh was arrested on 1 November 2025; the bail challenge was brought by Niraj Kumar, the deceased's grandson. The cancellation of bail is not a conviction, and the case continues. Sources: The Indian Express The New Indian Express (Indian Express, New Indian Express)
