A bench of Justices S.V.N. Bhatti and N.V. Anjaria held that a bribe demand is not part of official duty, so Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act gives no protection in such cases. It rejected a Rajasthan constable's plea to quash the FIR and chargesheet over an alleged Rs 1.5 lakh demand. (English)
