Karnataka cabinet to decide on Supreme Court appeal against High Court order quashing 56% SC/ST quota

Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara said the Karnataka cabinet will examine the High Court verdict that struck down the enhanced SC/ST quota and decide whether to challenge it in the Supreme Court. He also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre to review the 50% reservation ceiling and to reconsider the state's request to include the enhanced reservation provisions in the Constitution's Ninth Schedule. The Centre had deferred the Ninth Schedule proposal on 25 July 2026 because the case was pending before the High Court. Reported by Indian Express and Mathrubhumi. (Indian Express, English)
